COVID-19 End dates for unpaid pandemic leave provisions in awards

And here we thought we were done with sending out COVID-19 workplace related announcements.  Well, we were wrong and maybe we haven’t finished just yet either.

As I am sure you would have heard by now there has been an update by way of extension to the JobKeeper Scheme post 28th September 2020, whilst changes have been made to the eligibility of employers.

Also, in relation to COVID-19 there has also been an update to the end dates for Schedule X for unpaid pandemic leave provisions in each award.

Earlier this year you may recall the Fair Work Commission varied 99 awards to include unpaid pandemic leave and annual leave flexibility.   The update allowed for 2 weeks of unpaid pandemic leave and the ability to take twice as much annual leave at half the normal pay if the employer agreed.   Recently, the Fair Work Commission has extended this provision in many awards, however there are different end dates for each award with some finishing on 31 July, 30th September and beyond.

If you require specific information in relation to your workplace and relevant awards please get in contract.  You can contact us here.
