Family and Domestic Violence Leave
On the 27th July the Fair Work Commission updated all modern awards to include 5 days unpaid family and domestic violence leave per year, effective 1st August 2018.
Family and Domestic Violence Leave is for employees experiencing family and domestic violence and needs to do something to deal with the impact of the family and domestic violence and it is impractical for the employee to do that thing outside their ordinary hours of work. The leave is available to full time, part time and casual employees and is available in full at the commencement of each 12 month period, however it does not accumulate from year to year. The awards provide more detail information on notice and evidence, confidentiality, entitlement and taking of leave.
